Introduction
The Financial Industry Competency Standards (FICS) is a comprehensive quality assurance framework with a certification and accreditation system that aims at raising the quality of Singapore’s financial workforce and training providers. It comprises a set of standards with associated curriculum guide that relates to the financial services industry.
The FICS is developed by the industry, for the industry. It has the strong support of leading financial institutions and industry associations, the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and the Singapore Workforce Development Agency (WDA). It is aligned with the structure and requirements of the Singapore Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) system and recognised as the basis for WSQ awards for the financial services industry.
The Institute of Banking and Finance (IBF) is the national accreditation and certification agency for financial competency under the Financial Industry Competency Standards (FICS) framework.

Funding Amount
For Training
Eligible institutions can seek funding support of 70% for the training course fees incurred by the organisation in sending their employees to attend a training programme that has been accredited under the FICS. The funding support is capped at S$4,200 per participant per programme. This is regardless of how many competency units are covered in that programme.

Eligibility
The funding support is available for FICS programmes commencing on or after 1 January 2011.
The funding
support is available only to the following institutions:
Supported
participant can be Singapore citizen, permanent resident or foreigner, but the person must be based in Singapore, and hold a work position here or being sponsored by a ‘surrogate employer', such as an industry association.

Terms & Conditions
Participant has to complete the programme for the sponsoring organisation to be eligible for the grant.
